Raised in a large family of 5 kids and parents who are avid cooks and foodies, it is no surprise that I spend most of my waking hours thinking about food & my next meal. I have an even more insatiable obsession with all things sweet and buttery!
My food influences are as varied as the countries and cities I've lived in, from Manila (Philippines) to Vancouver (Canada) to Johannesburg (South Africa) and now settled in the beautiful Pacific Northwest (USA).
I am a mother of 3 vibrantly strong willed girls and a wife to an exceedingly patient Brit. Juggling family, work and life demands is a daily battle. I am at a constant quest to have my cake and eat it too!
What drives me to bring All-Purpose Cake Co. to all of you is my passion to provide "Inclusive cakes", that serve those who live with allergens and/or dietary restrictions yet still delectable enough for everyone else too. Because, at the center of most life's celebrations there is typically CAKE! At weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and more, cake is a medium that can bring people together and foster connections. It is my wish that our cake allows everyone to participate in celebrating life's most special moments or indulge in everyday simple pleasures.
With that I hope you enjoy our tasty bakes and share them with your family and friends.
With lots of love and light xoxo
I guess you could say I am a serial entrepreneur. At the tender age of 5 I set up a store (my desk put out in our front yard) and sold food from our pantry and my mom's make up to the neighbors. You can imagine that enterprise only lasted until my Mom came home from work! Since then I've designed and manufactured clothing, hair accessories and bags. I also sold turn of the century mantel clocks, fireworks, and so much more I can't list them all.
I love food and I love to eat, I think about lunch before breakfast and dinner before noon! This love affair with food has made me an avid home cook.
When Valerie brought up the idea of All-Purpose Cake Co, I was all in! Valerie's vision for an "Inclusive Cake" was in sync with my passion for advocating for people with barriers to employment. Over coffee and cake on a rainy Seattle morning we agreed on a shared vision and mission - to one day provide employment to those marginalized (people with disabilities, seniors, youth, immigrants and people of color). I am excited for what we can achieve to make a positive impact to our community!
Live, love, and eat!
